Dog grooming

Grooming that your dog will run in for.

Full grooms, bath and drys, de-sheds, hand-strips and walk-in nail trims and ear cleans, by City and Guilds qualified groomers who are trained in pet first aid. Every dog is groomed to suit their coat, their age and how you like them to look.

Services

What we offer

Message us with your dog's breed and coat and we will tell you what we recommend and how long to allow.

Full groom

The works: a bath in one of our two tubs, a thorough dry and brush-through, then clipping or scissoring to the style you want, with nails trimmed and ears cleaned before they go home.

Also offering hand-strips and de-sheds for the coats that need them, and a bath and dry for dogs who just want a freshen up between grooms.

Nervous dogs

If your dog is a little nervous of other pups, that is absolutely no problem. The groom room has an area where we can put screens up so they are groomed quietly, away from everyone else.

Teeth clean

A dedicated teeth clean, on its own or alongside a groom. The first appointment is £40 and includes your dog's own toothbrush head, which we keep for them. Follow-up cleans are £30.

£40 first visit, then £30

Walk-in nail trims and ear cleans

No appointment needed. Pop in during opening hours and we will trim nails or clean ears while you wait.

£10 each, no booking

Puppies and first grooms

Gentle introductions for young dogs, so the table, bath and dryer become normal, calm parts of life rather than something to worry about.

Seasonal extras

Little add-on packs through the year. This autumn it is the Halloween Bow Tie Pack: a blueberry and oatmeal facial, paw and nose butter, ears cleaned, a toffee apple spritz and a bow tie, for £8 on top of any groom. Bow ties on their own are £2.

Full groom prices vary with your dog's size, breed and the condition of their coat, so we quote for each dog rather than from a list. WhatsApp us a photo and a bit about your dog and we will give you a price before you book.

A visit to us

What happens at a groom

Finishing touches

Ears cleaned and a spritz. Then home, fluffy and very pleased with themselves.

Teeth cleans

Fresh breath and a happier vet visit.

A teeth clean can be booked on its own or added to a groom. On the first visit your dog gets their own toothbrush head, which we keep for their next appointment, so nothing is shared between dogs.

The groom room

A room we designed around the dogs.

When we took on Unit W1 we stripped the groom room back and rebuilt it. A few of the things that make it special:

  • A 7kW air conditioning and heating system, so it is the right temperature for your dog all year round.
  • Two baths next to each other, so dogs from the same home can be bathed at the same time.
  • An area where screens can go up, for dogs who are a little nervous of other pups.
  • Groomers who are City and Guilds qualified and pet first aid trained.

Questions we get asked

How do I book?

WhatsApp is best: message 07490 394399 with your dog's name, breed and roughly when you would like to come in. You can also call the same number, email pfapdoggroom@hotmail.com, message us on Facebook or Instagram, or use the enquiry form.

How much is a groom?

Full grooms vary with your dog's size, breed and coat, so we quote for each dog. Message us a photo and a bit about them and we will give you a price. Walk-in nail trims and ear cleans are £10. Teeth cleans are £40 for the first appointment, which includes your dog's own toothbrush head, and £30 for follow-ups.

When are you open?

Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, plus one Saturday a month from 10am to 4pm. In the month we work a Saturday we take one weekday off in return, so message before making a special trip. Weekend messages are answered on Monday.

What if I need to cancel?

Please give us at least 24 hours' notice. Later than that and a fee of 50% of the groom price applies, and cancelling less than an hour before your appointment, or not turning up, means the full groom price is due. The full list is on our policies page.

Do I need to book for nail trims and ear cleans?

No. We offer walk-in nail trims and ear cleans during opening hours, £10 each, so you can pop in with your dog whenever suits.

My dog is nervous around other dogs. Is that a problem?

Not at all. The groom room has an area where we can put screens up, so a dog who would rather not see other pups can be groomed quietly on their own.

Can my two dogs be bathed at the same time?

Yes. The groom room has two baths next to each other, so dogs from the same home can be bathed at the same time, each in their own bath.

What are your groomers qualified in?

Georgie and Ruby are fully qualified, City and Guilds dog groomers, and everyone is trained in pet first aid. Meg is our apprentice, learning alongside them.

What about winter and summer? Does the room get too hot or cold?

The groom room has a 7kW air conditioning and heating system, so it stays at a comfortable temperature for your dog all year round.

Ready to book a pamper?

Message us with your dog's name, breed and roughly when you would like to come in, and we will find you a slot. New faces are always welcome.
